* Valuations are provided as an estimate for informational purposes only and do not constitute an offer from webuyanycar.com®, except where you are expressly made a conditional 7 Day Offer. Valuations are based on the limited information we collect from you online and market information about your vehicle (which, for some makes, models and years, can be limited). Therefore the valuation may be adjusted at our discretion at any time, including prior to or during our in-branch vehicle inspection. Additional fees (e.g. titling) may also apply. By selecting to receive a valuation or conditional 7 Day Offer, you agree to our Terms of Use.

How do I sign my Wyoming vehicle title?

Transferring vehicle ownership in Wyoming requires a few specific steps to keep the sale legal and clean. If you are selling to a dealer, check with them first before signing anything on the title.

1. Verify Your Title

Start by confirming that the title is in your name and contains no mistakes. If the title has been lost, stolen, or damaged, request a duplicate through your local County Clerk's office before going any further.

2. Notarization Is Required

In Wyoming, the seller's signature on the title must be notarized. Plan to sign in front of a notary public, and bring a valid photo ID with you. You can find notary services at most banks, local government offices, and authorized agents. Many dealerships also offer notary services on-site, so check with the dealer before signing.

3. Complete the Seller Information on the Back of the Title

Flip the title over to find the seller information section, which needs to be filled out without errors:

  • Seller's Signature: Sign in the box labeled for the seller's signature. All owners listed on the title must sign.
  • Printed Name of Seller: Print your name exactly as it appears on the title.
  • Buyer Information: Provide the buyer's full name and address in the designated section.
  • Odometer Reading: Provide the vehicle's accurate mileage at the time of sale, ensuring this information is filled in correctly without errors. It is important to not guess this number, and record an exact mileage number.

Important: Avoid making corrections, using white-out, or crossing out information, as this will invalidate the title.

4. Address Liens

If a lienholder is listed on the front of your title, you'll need their authorization to proceed. Ensure the lienholder has signed off on the title or provides a separate lien release letter. This step must be completed before the title can legally transfer to a new owner.

5. Consider Multiple Owners

Multiple owners on a title? The connector between names tells you whether one or both signatures are required:

  • "AND": Both owners are required to sign.
  • "OR": Only one owner needs to sign.

Key Takeaways

  • Notarization of the title is mandatory.
  • Ensure all signatures match exactly as they appear on the title.
  • Address any existing liens before proceeding.

By following these steps, you'll ensure a seamless transfer of ownership while staying compliant with Wyoming's title regulations. For more details, consult the Wyoming DOT DMV page.
