We buy cars of every make, model, age and condition, and buying cars is all we do. Whether your car is a year old and still under warranty, a luxury or performance model, a family SUV with a loan on it, or an older car that has been around the clock, the process is the same: get a free online valuation in about 60 seconds, book an appointment of about an hour at a branch near you or at your home, and if you accept the offer you receive instant secure payment by check, wire, ACH or Zelle. This page sets out what we buy, the situations we handle every day, and why selling to a company that only buys cars is different from every other route.
What we buy
| Your car is | Do we buy it? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
Any make or model | Yes | Domestic, Japanese, Korean, European, mainstream or luxury. We have a page for every make and most models. |
New or nearly new | Yes | Cars a year or two old, still under the manufacturer's warranty or still being paid off, are a large part of what we buy. The valuation reflects current market pricing for that model, and any loan or lease is settled with the lender at the appointment. |
Luxury, performance or exotic | Yes | Premium and performance models are valued on their exact trim, options, engine and condition. Some are not listed in the online valuation tool; if yours is not, request a custom quote. The appointment, paperwork and instant secure payment work the same way whatever the car is worth. |
A truck, SUV, minivan, van or commercial vehicle | Yes | Valued the same way as a car. See the vehicle types we buy. |
Older or high mileage | Yes | Age and mileage are part of the valuation, not a reason to turn the car away. |
Financed or leased | Yes | We pay the lender directly and pay you the balance. Bring a 10-day payoff letter. See selling a financed car. |
Worth less than the loan | Yes | You pay the difference at the appointment by certified check or card, and the loan is cleared. |
Not running | Yes | Call your local branch before arranging a tow, as not every location can take a tow truck. See selling a car that does not run. |
Damaged or with accident history | Yes | Describe the damage when you get your valuation so the number is realistic from the start. |
One of several vehicles | Yes | Businesses selling more than one vehicle can use our fleet vehicles service. |
Situations we handle
Because we buy thousands of cars each week, the paperwork cases that stall a private sale are ordinary for us. A lender holding the title: we obtain it from them when the payoff is processed. An electronic title: we work with the DMV to get the physical one. Selling on behalf of a relative or friend: bring a letter of authorization or power of attorney and identification for both of you. Documents in a maiden name, a divorce where the car is in both names, an owner who cannot be present: your local branch will tell you exactly what to bring. The common cases are listed in what to bring to your appointment, and if you have lost the title, contact We Buy Any Car rather than starting with the DMV. If your make or model is not listed in the online valuation tool, which can happen with rare, exotic or very new vehicles, do not pick the nearest model; request a custom quote and a representative will contact you within 24 hours.
How selling your car to us works
Three steps. First, the free online valuation: plate, VIN or year, make and model, with mileage and condition, and you have a number in about 60 seconds. Second, the appointment: book a branch and a time online, or a home visit from our mobile buying service where it is available, and a Vehicle Acquisition Specialist confirms the car, takes a short test drive and explains the offer. Third, payment: accept the offer, the title and any loan are handled at the appointment, and you are paid instantly by check, wire, ACH or Zelle. What happens in the hour is described in get in, get out, get paid.
Why sell to a company that only buys cars
A dealer wants to sell you your next car, and your trade-in is a line in that negotiation. A private buyer wants the lowest price they can get and brings the risks of a stranger at your door and a payment you have to trust. We Buy Any Car has one job. We value your car on the things buyers pay for, year, make, model, trim, engine, body style, drivetrain, mileage and condition, using current used car market data, and we explain the offer line by line. The car is never listed online, no one visits your home unless you choose our mobile buying service, the title and lender paperwork are done for you, and the money is in your hands at the appointment. The way the offer is built is set out in how we calculate your car offer.
